“... And Justice For All – REALLY NOW?”

(WARNING: I have many white friends and associates, however, those friendships and associations do not take precedence over what is going on in this society we live in. As a society, let's take a look in the mirror and try not denying the truth that is shown. THAT is what this particular post is meant to do.)

At a New Year’s Eve party in Georgia, a 17 year old boy and a 15 year old girl are amongst other teens under no adult supervision whatsoever in a hotel room where both alcohol and marijuana are being passed around like party favors. Just like anywhere else in America, under these circumstances, the two kids and a few others began engaging in certain varied activities of a sexual nature. Although other teens were “getting their swerve on” someone videotaped the 15 year girl orally pleasuring the 17 year old boy, not to mention one or two other boys at the party.

A week later, the boy was arrested for raping the 15 year old girl; however, in reviewing the video everyone, including the girl and the prosecution, agreed she initiated the act. But because of an archaic Georgia law, it was a misdemeanor for teenagers less than three years apart to have sexual intercourse, but a felony for the same kids to have oral sex. In the end, the boy was acquitted of rape, but found guilty of aggravated child molestation and imprisoned for 10 years. The boy, now 20, is black and the girl who initiated the act, now 17 is white ... and this was Georgia (i.e. the “Deep South”).

Jena, Louisiana: At Jena High School a tree was planted – and was symbolically called a “tree of knowledge.” Yet somehow this was unofficially deemed a “whites only” tree. A day or so after black students were seen sitting under the tree several white students hung nooses from that tree. Their punishment: expulsion – which was later overturned and reduced to in-school suspension.Not long after that a fight broke out at the school where one white student was supposedly jumped and beaten by six black students and suffered a concussion and multiple bruises. The white student was in such dire medical duress that he drove himself to a high school pep rally before ever receiving medical attention.

The end result: The six black students were charged with attempted second-degree murder and conspiracy. In early July, an all-white jury took less than two days to convict 17 year-old Mychal Bell, the first of the Jena Six to go on trial. He was convicted of aggravated battery and conspiracy charges and on Sept. 20th, faces sentencing of up to 22 years in prison.

And recently in West Virginia, a black woman was found in a house having been beaten and tortured for over a week by six white people. In addition to being raped, her face was bruised and bloodied, she was forced to eat rat and dog feces & drink from a toilet, and she was stabbed in the left leg four times. The six white people were arrested and held on $100,000 bail.

Would a white 17 year old boy be imprisoned for a decade were he “pleasured” by a 15 year old black girl? When was the last time a white teen was sentenced to 20+ years for beating up a black one? And is there really a bail amount high enough were six black people found to have raped, beaten and tortured a white woman for a week in West Virginia - or anywhere in this country?
