Taylor Swift ... Album of the year? KANYE ... WHERE ARE YOU?! WE NEED YOU!!

First of all, let's understand that the Grammys are not and NEVER WERE about or FOR us. The same goes for the Oscars, and the so-called "People's Choice" Awards.

Undeniably, Beyonce' was all over the place - PERIOD. Taylor Swift ... yeah you might have heard her name if your radio dial glided over a pop station, but really - "Album of the Year?" Word? Get ready ... C'mon SON! ... GETDAFUCKOUTTAHEREWITHDATBULLSHIT!

Question #1: When did she become a household name? Question #2: When did she even become a blip on black folks' radar? Beyonce' been in the game since she was 12 and had #1 joints going back to 1997. Nobody knew who Swift was until 11 years later ... TWO YEARS AGO! Question #3: And ALL OF A SUDDEN she's up neck & neck with every award that Beyonce's up for? Question #4: WHEN EXACTLY DID THAT START?!

The answer to Question #'s 1 thru 4 is July 14th 2009 when someone had the balls to step up and throw political correctness out of the window & call it like he saw it.

Okay ... She's successful - but what does that have to do with talent? In this era, it's not really about talent - T. PAIN - HELLOOOO!! What gets people to the top is hustle & grind, and what people recognize - what the universe recognizes and respects is action. Here's something I found out (Wikipedia): "At age 11, Swift made her first trip to Nashville, hoping to obtain a record deal by distributing a demo tape of her singing with karaoke songs. She gave a copy to every label in town. Swift was rejected by record labels and her peers." ... "AND HER PEERS!" Her own people weren't feeling her! (But in all fairness we all have our own peanut gallery of Bubble-Busters when we're on our grind!)

She had to hustle to get to where she got; granted, but to put her at the level of Beyonce' - even P!nk - who's been in the game for a minute and over the past couple years has started to get some real shine.

You can go to any local high school in any "suburban" community and find a 15-16 year old girl who knows how to play the guitar and she will sound just like Taylor Swift. So you can't tell me that what happened last July has not played a significant part in all of the media attention this young woman has received over the past six months.
