Why Settle for Average?

What is "average?"

C ... C+ ... 70% - 75%.

Why is average good enough for most people? I really wish I knew for certain, but all I can surmise is that for most people, it's just good enough to not be called a failure without having to put in all the work necessary to truly be considered a success ... and that is why 90% of the world's wealth is owned by 10% of the world's population.

Now is the time to face an ugly truth. Although I believe there to be greatness in everyone, not everyone is meant to be great. Sad, but true. The fact of the matter is there are people out there who believe that their lives serve no purpose other than to work and die. I don't understand it, but it is true. I actually know people who believe they are content just being one or two paychecks away from being homeless. However, I don't believe that. What I believe is that they're just content in being average. They are content in being paid just enough to keep from quitting their jobs, and thus they work just enough to keep from being fired.

Oh, I understand the mentality ... I can even vibe with it on MY "9 to 5." I can understand the mentality behind not wanting to give all of yourself to a job or a boss who doesn't appreciate what you have to offer.

HOWEVER ... that does not give any of us permission to settle for just being average. Your job does not have to appreciate what you have to offer ... but YOU DO. You have to understand that God put you on earth for a purpose. Now if you want that purpose to be just being average, so be it - but what that truly means is, your purpose was/is to be the benchmark by which a successful person stands out.

There is nothing stopping any of us from being successful. Not everyone has to have the big house on the hill, but if you live in a studio apartment, you can strive to move into a one or two bedroom apartment. If you live in a one or two bedroom apartment, you can strive to own a home. If you're taking a bus and or train to work, you can strive to get a car of your own. If you have a home and a car; you don't necessarily need to upgrade, but you can strive to pay down that mortgage and that car note sooner than later. You don't have to be the boss at your job, but do your job better than your boss does hers or his!

I mean if you're going to put in the work just to be 70% to 75% successful, how much harder will it be to put in that necessary 25% to 30%?

You wanna' know what makes it harder? The fact of the matter is once you raise the bar ande show & prove that you're capable of succeeding, you can't stay there. You have to keep raising the bar. But the higher the bar gets raised, the harder you have to work ... and most people just don't want to work hard.

Do you want to be the benchmark of success, or that which successful people measure themselves against to know that they have to do more in order to be more?

Don't settle for just average.
EXCEL!! Like the old saying goes ...
Your attitude determines your altitude!
