Anthony Robbins, from his studies, teaches that people act based upon two principles: Pain & Pleasure. Specifically, they will do whatever is necessary to avoid pain and induce pleasure. The problem comes into play when the best way to avoid pain & induce pleasure is to do nothing.
In other words ... how many of us are guilty of procrastinating?
We all are ... we all have put off a homework assignment, or a report for work. We all have put off paying a bill ... none of us are innocent of procrastination.
However ... how many of you are "habitual" procrastinators?
(Notice how I took myself out of THAT equation?)
You see ... I have come to the realization that in order to become successful, everything you are faced with must have some level of importance. You must have some sense of urgency & completion. Those who are successful do not just sit on their butts looking successful ... actually they do - but the reason why - or even better - the secret behind why they do is because at some point when they were on their grind they busted their butts and kicked up so much dust that everyone around had to clear it. By the time those people were done clearing the dust ... they were employed by the one kicking up the dust and he (or SHE) was sitting upon the throne of achievement.
It didn't even have to be someone making CEO status! Someone could have kicked up enough dust to become a supervisor, or to create their own business ... or both - become a supervisor on their "9 to 5" as well as create their own business! They did this because they reached a point where they were fed up! They were sick and tired of being sick and tired and they set out to achieve more than what they had at the time. It became important to them to dig in and work harder ... to have more, it became important to them to DO more.
If what you have now is good enough for you then you can best believe that you will have that tomorrow ... provided someone doesn't take it from you. Oh yes ... if you just think you're going to sit on your duff with what you have and live happily ever after, you're quite mistaken. Don't be surprised if what you think you have is taken from you by someone who is grinding to acquire whatever he or she can get their hands on in purpsuit of their success.
I am still enduring certain trials and tribulations. I believe that my hard times are fires that God is using to make me a better man. it has become important to me to learn from my particular adversities. I see a brighter future beyond my present obstacles, and therefore, as long as I grind towards that future, start and keep kicking up dust ... when that dust clears, those who shall find themselves responsible for clearing up that dust will find themselves working for me.
I say this metaphorically, however, do take to heart the meaning behind the meatphor. If succeeding is important enough to you ... in any way - in any area ... it should become equally, if not more important for you to get up off your butt and put in the work necessary to achieve that success.
With that, I ask ...
What is important to you?
