I Said it FIRST!! Now ... Others Are Beginning to See it Too!!

On March 23rd of this year, I posted "Divide & Conquer ... Facing the Truth or Conveniently Ignoring It?" (See "Older Posts" at bottom).

The inspiration for that post came after Sen. Barack Obama's great speech on race relations in America. In that post, I talked about how (I'll be nice and just say) those who don't want Sen. Obama to become president will use the tactic of "divide & conquer" to decimate his chances of getting elected. Specifically, by pointing out anything and or anyone in any way associated with Sen. Obama that can be spun negatively to either strike fear or further ignorance in those who would probably vote for a tricycle-riding circus bear than "the usual suspects."

In short (as I said then), these people "are united in causing the people - black people in particualr - to lose faith in Obama by forcing him to 'denounce and reject' anyone who goes about the business of exposing this country to itself from the black point of view. This only goes to show that the so-called powers that be do not care about the black point of view. They did not care when we were the slaves who built this country, and they don't care now."

Throughout the entire Democratic Primary process Sen. Obama has been spun to "denounce ... reject ... condemn ... and distance" himself from anyone who appears in any way to offend the delicate sensibilities of ... "those who would probably vote for a tricycle-riding circus bear than 'the usual suspects'."

Recently, Chrsitopher Bridges; the rapper/actor better known as Ludacris, released a song called "Politics: Obama is Here" in which he bolsters his support for Sen. Obama and shares his disdain for Sen.'s Clinton & McCain as well as the man I affectionately call "G-Dubya." He also gives some attention to Rev. Jesse Jackson's ignorant comments (I don't care ... Jesse's flat out jealous he never made the progress Sen. Obama has). Now, as immediately as the release of the song was reported, Sen. Obama's campaign went straight into "Denounce ... reject ... condemn ... and distance" mode.

I say "others are beginning to see it too," because this morning as I was listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show, Steve - in so many words - acknowledged this very fact.

According to CBSNews.com:
"As Barack Obama has said many, many times in the past, rap lyrics today too often perpetuate misogyny, materialism, and degrading images that he doesn’t want his daughters or any children exposed to," said spokesman Bill Burton. "This song is not only outrageously offensive to Senator Clinton, Reverend Jackson, Senator McCain, and President Bush, it is offensive to all of us who are trying to raise our children with the values we hold dear. While Ludacris is a talented individual he should be ashamed of these lyrics."

Now ... this is NOT a song that you'd see on Nickelodeon ... not even "Nick @ Nite!". This is not a Will Smith joint; i.e., "safe hip-hop." Ludacris is from the streets of Atlanta. As a successful artist with 10 years in the music industry - not an easy feat with today's fickle "flash-in-the-pan/hot today - not tomorrow" listening audience. Ludacris is one of those "top tier" few who has endured because he stays true to his base ... the streets.

His song ... while not necessarily something that would be blasted out of the speakers of cars on Rodeo Drive or Martha's Vineyard (but don't be surprised), explained the facts as they are to those people who aren't likely to watch read USA Today or the New York Times, or watch the debates on CNN, C-SPAN or MSNBC.

You see, hip hop is the CNN of the streets. Just like the blunt and "in your face" words of Rev. Jeremiah Wright frightened those who would rather not have their ugly history splashed in their faces; the same holds true for Ludacris' song. But remember ... the tactic is to "divide & conquer" by way of "denouncing ... rejecting ... condeming ... and distancing." By denouncing Ludacris, it is expected - dare I say hoped and prayed that those who listen to Ludacris will see Sen. Obama as unworthy of their vote because of his denouncing of the song and Ludacris himself.

Silly rabbits ... What must be understood here is that WE KNOW WHAT KIND OF GAME IS BEING PLAYED HERE! It is nothing more than blind racist arrogance, that keeps these people living in their own delusion that change is not on the horizon.

Change IS on the horizon!
